This Wedding Season’s Biggest Trends

THE FABRIC
Fabrics like georgette, silk, organza, velvet and brocade are preferable for winter weddings. The multi-panelled bridal lehengas are embellished with signature zardosi work. Tulle mixed with taffeta and authentic French lace. Sometimes fabrics are used according to the mood of the function- Benarasi silk jacquards, traditional tanchoi or tissue embroidered with zardosi, badla, threadwork, sequins or Swarovski crystals.

THE SILHOUETTE
The choice of silhouette should depend on the bride. But are gowns the new lehengas? In India, nothing can replace the timeless appeal of a beautifully embroidered sari or an intricately worked lehenga. Mermaid lehengas and pre-draped saris are recommended. As both silhouettes work perfectly in accentuating women’s figures.

THE COLOR
From baby blue and jade green to rose pink. This season, it’s back to basics for the red-carpet darling, with shades of pink, ivory and traditional red, on fabrics like velvet, georgette, brocade and net. But if you want to experiment a little, metallics and offbeat colors like turquoise, lavender, sage green and mango are perfect.

THE BLOUSE
This bridal season highlights the importance of that often-undervalued part of bridal attire- the blouse. Invest in a few gold blouses in various styles- conventional cholis, spaghetti-strap ones and corsets. These can be mixed with lehengas, saris and even Western clothes. Play up the sensuous vibe when it comes to the choli. Because there is nothing more high impact than a sexy choli. A change in blouse can effortlessly revamp your look from the wedding to the reception. Slip on a sexy, knee-length evening jacket that matches your wedding lehenga for an all-new look in minutes.
